Ü’ve Got a Friend In Me!

An interesting study revealed that fat is shed when there are more individuals in a shared space.

This led us to thinking - the more engaging the environment, the more calories we could burn!

Although this study is still in its early stages, it gives us a great reason to get a bunch of friends together for an evening of board games and giggles (feel those abs crunch!) The options are as endless as your friend list on Facebook!

As they say, the more the merrier – and now, the healthier!

Yogen Früz On Top Of The World

Yogen Früz at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa!

Yogen Früz recently jumped at the unique opportunity to support the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation (MSHF) as they prepared to ascend to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa.

On July 11th, 2011, armed with flag in hand, we took this once-in-a-lifetime climb as our chance to scout for our very first Yogen Früz location in Africa. Drawing perplexed looks from our fellow team members and guides, details of the new store were worked out along the three-day journey to the summit. Customers will be encouraged to pick their own fruits and toppings from the native and unique vegetation that grows in abundance on Mount Kilimanjaro’s slopes. Since there are no roads, complimentary quadrupedal transportation (ü-mule for short) will be made available free of charge. Unfortunately, because this new location is many, many, miles from the nearest bank, we except exact change only. No debit, credit or bartering. Sorry!

Hope to see ü on top!

All fun aside, the proceeds of the MSHF’s Climb to Conquer goes towards helping adolescents and children struggling with mental illness by raising money for the Mental Health Program and increasing public awareness. We are proud to help the Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation grow their new wing for the stigma of mental health by providing our youth with the understanding, care and treatment they need to live normal, healthy lives.

Top Ten Holiday and Christmas Shopping Tips

Holiday Christmas Eaton Centre Toronto

We ran into an interesting article over at the Fitness Tips for Life website. They offered advice about healthy foods you can eat while holiday shopping at the mall and what foods to avoid. Guess who they suggested? Ü

We’ve came up with our own list of tips to compliment everyone’s holiday shopping experience.

1. Try to come to the mall only wearing a light jacket as the malls are already set to a toasty 72F / 22C

2. Bring cash only so you know you will not overspend

3. Wear comfortable shoes

4. Avoid caffeine as it just gives you a short spike in energy and leaves you more tired after the affects wear off

5. Avoid shopping on an empty stomach

6. Eat healthy snacks like Yogen Fruz frozen yogurt, smoothies and fruit cups to maintain your energy level Ü

7. Stay hydrated and drink lots of water

8. Bring your iPod to avoid having to listen to the same holiday jingles over and over, from store to store

9. Take lots of breaks, because we know what heavy shopping bags can do

10. Most of all, have fun! Wear a Ü on your face!

The EB Medical Research Foundation was established in 1991 by Gary & Lynn Fechser Anderson at the request of Dr Eugene Bauer, then Professor and Chairman of the Department of Dermatology at The Stanford University School of Medicine. His research team was making exciting progress of their study of EB but needed additional funding to realize their goals and Yogen Fruz contributed to help them continue their research.

Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) is a group of diseases characterized by blister formation after minor trauma to the skin. This family of disorders, most of which are inherited, range in severity from mild to the severely disabling and life-threatening diseases of the skin. Estimates indicate that as many as 100,000 Americans suffer from some form of EB.
